Carl Dexter Deloach

Carl Dexter DeLoach, 70, of Hartford, was called home to heaven, on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.


A service to honor his memory will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 3 p.m. at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford, with Pastor Thomas Fuller officiating. Military rites will also be conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 5-7 p.m. at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. As to Carl's wishes, cremation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial may do so to the family or to the American Cancer Society. Carl was born on April 15, 1944, in Lepanto, Ark., the third of fourteen children of Norman and Zelma (Blevens) DeLoach, both of whom precede him in passing. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Love Joy of South Haven after many years of faithful employment. His most joy was spending time with his grandchildren. You would often see him hot roding around town in his beloved 1971 Chevelle. Carl also loved doing carpentry work, especially on his own home.


Carl married the former Monica Shafer on Oct. 23, 1976, and she survives along with their daughter, Leslie (Marshal Pomeroy) DeLoach; two granddaughters; Livia and Madelyn and thirteen siblings; Billy (Linda) DeLoach of Lawrence, Thomas (Jeaqnette) DeLoach of Pocahontas, Ark., Charles (Sharon) DeLoach of Decatur, Mary (Doyle) Drane of Hartford, Linda (George) Bergeson of Paw Paw, James (Joyce) DeLoach of Columbia, Tenn., Richard DeLoach of Hartford, Bonnie Imler of Watervliet, Judy (Bill) Haberland of South Haven, Daniel DeLoach, Kenneth DeLoach, Norma (David) Bulat and Mark DeLoach, all of Hartford and special friends, Pete Vassar and Joe Cross.
