Brenda Shafer

Brenda Shafer of Hartford was born June 18, 1955, in Monette, Ark. She was the daughter of L.C. and Dorothy (Butler) Pruitt. Brenda passed away at the age of 66, on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

As per Brenda’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Hartford Bible Church with Pastor Benjamin Williamson officiating. On Feb. 17, 1980, Brenda was united in marriage to Michael Shafer. She was formerly employed at Michigan Fruit Canners for 17 years. After leaving that job, she became a stay-at-home mom, who liked taking walks, especially with her dog, spending time with her grandkids and going camping up north.

Brenda leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Mike; her son, Travis Shafer; two grandchildren, Kendell Shafer and Landon Shafer, both of Lawrence; two brothers, Leamon (Lois) Pruitt and L.C. Pruitt Jr., both of Hartford; a sister, Louise May of Lawrence; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Brenda was preceded in passing by her parents; and three sisters, Edith Watkins, Linda Nichols and Evelyn Cothern.
