Betty May Sias, 91 of Hartford, passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016 at home.
Betty was born Jan. 21, 1925 in Des Moines, Ia., the daughter of John and Viola (Conway) Chappel, both of whom precede her in passing. Also preceding her in passing were her husbands, Jack Rhinehart and Robert Sias; two daughters: Jacqueline Caldwell and Lori Ghent and three siblings: John Chappel, Russell Chappel and Imogene Straw.
Betty baby sat for numerous kids and did ironing for many different families in her working years. She was an avid bowler, bowling for a number of years in a woman's league. She was a member of the American Legion Post 93 Auxiliary of Hartford for more than 25 years. In her spare time, she loved to take care of the flowers in her yard that she planted and she was an avid Bingo player, who enjoyed going to the boat.
Betty is survived by three children: Tommy Rhinehart, Robin (John) Berli and Randy Sims; daughter-in-law and "best buddy", Chris Lawson; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
As per Betty's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will welcome friends from 11 A.M. to Noon on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, where the service to honor her memory will commence at Noon. Burial will take place at a later date at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty's name may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
