Bernece Burdette Frazier

Bernece Burdette Frazier was born Jan. 24, 1922, the daughter of Walter and Mable (Walter) Broadhurst. She passed away at the age of 98 on her birthday on Jan. 24, 2020, at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Oshtemo Township.


The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, at Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. As to Bernece's wishes, cremation will follow the visitation and a private burial of her ashes will take place in Keeler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society. Memorial condolences for the family can be left on our website at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.


On Dec. 31, 1944, Bernece was united in marriage with John Frazier. She was a wonderful mother who loved working in her garden, crocheting and baking all kinds of goodies. She was formerly employed at AERO Motive in Kalamazoo.


Bernece leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Shirley Carter of Kalamazoo; two grandsons, Michael Carter of Florence, N.J., and Mark (Oxana) Carter of Secaucus, N.J.; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.


Bernece was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Carl Frazier; her parents; and a sister, Virginia Stainbrook.
