Angela May Stair

Angela May Stair, 83, of Hartford passed peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Angie was born in South Haven on May 31, 1941, to Frank and Helen (Simanek) Wanecek. Her family lived in Covert where she graduated. On June 12, 1971, she married her husband, Hayden Stair.


Angie discovered her passion working at the Hartford Library. She later began working for Van Buren District Library at several branches. She took the librarian position in Mattawan and after 22 years she retired in 2000 to care for her daughter. During retirement she began working as a reporter for the Tri-City Record, retiring in 2022. Her love of fantasy books led her to write her own book. “Jenna's Book: Legend of the One and Three” was published as a hardback and also as an eBook.


Angie loved visiting her close and extended family; Playing Bunco, cards, and traveling. She was an avid creator who sewed, knitted, crocheted, painted and many enjoyed many other crafts.


She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Theresa Stair; two sisters: Katherine Newell and Eleanor Burrows and a brother, Frank Wanecek.


Angie is survived by her husband, Hayden Stair and brother, Martin Wanecek (of Kansas); two daughters: Carla Baldwin and Kimberly Boysen (Lou Price); two step-daughters: Sandra (Lonnie) Morris and Linda (Lloyd) Taylor; five grandchildren: Corey (Morgan) Baldwin, Angela (Stephen) Falk, Steven Boysen, Donald R. (Denise) Baldwin and Melissa (Troy) Allen; and nine great-grandchildren.


The family will welcome friends and family from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, at Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. Followed by a celebration of life service at 6 p.m. with Father German Perez-Diaz as celebrant. Per Angela’s wishes, cremation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the Special Olympics or to the Friends of the Antwerp Sunshine Library.
