Albert Thomas Pierce

October 14, 1923 — September 17, 2020

World War II hero, Albert Thomas Pierce, 96, of Hartford went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 17, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Albert earned several medals serving in the 87th Infantry Division during WWII, including a Purple Heart, 3 Bronze Stars, and several other medals. Among his many distinctions he fought in the Battle of the Bulge, bravely crossed the Rhine River, was a medic in Germany, and received multiple commendations for his dedication and bravery. Friends and family would attest the discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him.

Albert was born Oct. 14, 1923, in Lake City, Ark., to Pearly and Lilly (Wilson) Pierce. On May 7, 1947, Albert married the love of his life, Magdaline Yeager. Albert took great pride in one of his greatest accomplishments: his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his great-great-grandchildren. He enjoyed reading the bible and was notorious for his sweet tooth.

Albert is survived by six children: Carol Applegate, Jeannette Tapp, Albert Lee (Lisa) Pierce, Bethel Tredor, Pat (Sam) Williams, and Robert (Bonnie) Pierce.

Albert is preceded in death by his wife, Magdaline; his parents; multiple brothers and sisters; and grandsons, Junior Hankins and John Williams.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Full Gospel Assembly Church, Hartford. The service to honor Albert’s memory will commence at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, with Pastor Shannon Truelove officiating. Albert will be laid to rest next to his wife in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford, with full military rites by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the church. Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, is assisting the family with arrangements, and anyone who would wish to leave a thoughtful memorial condolence may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
