Aaron Oliver Knight III, 65, of Lawrence passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo.
Aaron was born Feb. 5, 1951, in Watervliet, the son of Aaron Jr. and Barbara (Watson) Knight, both of whom preceded him in passing. Also preceding him in passing was a nephew, Duane Allen Matlock.
Aaron fought in the Vietnam War and was in the Army, Navy and the Reserves. He was a member of Hess-Eastman Post 174 of Lawrence. He loved to fish, although he never caught the "big one;" watching TV, especially the westerns; and walking. He was a "people person," as he knew just about everyone in Lawrence. But his biggest asset was his undeniable bravery, strength and love of his daughter, who was his rock and his world.
Aaron is survived by a daughter, Alicia Taylor of Three Rivers; three grandchildren; a brother, Samuel Knight of Kalamazoo; a sister, Agatha Knight-Kenner of North Carolina; his "auntie," Margaret Knight-Forbes of Dowagiac; a niece, Christine Marie Brown of Kalamazoo; and three great-nieces.
Aaron has been cremated. The family will welcome friends beginning at noon on Sunday, Feb. 28, at Hess-Eastman Post 174, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family for funeral expenses. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for the family may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
